Our History
Blue Ridge Abortion Fund has been funding abortion since 1989, when members of Charlottesville NOW put out a pickle jar to collect money to help a person pay for their abortion. The request came through a whisper network and for a long time that’s how it went: community gathering money when a person was in need.
30 years after that pickle jar first circulated, Blue Ridge Abortion Fund is an independent non-profit organization fully dedicated to funding abortions.
